No matter how skillful a repairman is, he is nothing without the right tool. Cleaning of fungus is generally not a difficult thing, its just about careful wiping of the glass elements with fungus on them. The real difficulty lies in being able to open the lens to reach the element in question, which is a combination of skills/experience and the right tools, followed by fixing the lens back in the right order of course.
Here at MyMonsterCamera, we do not advocate everyone to start opening your lenses, especially if you do not have prior experience. However if you have someone to guide you, or you are feeling adventurous, MyMonsterCamera is here to provide you with the right tools to get the job done. Long gone are the days whereby repair tools were like some heavenly top secret handed down only to the selected ones, and you have to specially modify your own tools or contact someone in the Leica Germany workshop in order to obtain these really good tools.
For sale above is and adjustable wide lens spanner, it is most commonly used to loosen the front stopper piece of the lens when there isn't any spaces for using the lens spanner, subsequently the rest of the front elements become easily accessible for cleaning. It is sometimes also used for opening screws in the back of the lens as well. Here at MyMonsterCamera, we recommend this Medium size set for common daily seen lenses with filter threads ranging from 49mm all the way to 77mm. The Large sized set would be useful if you need to open lenses with front diameter 77mm and above.
